And with that, we're now officially halfway through Pipe Dope! Only 110 more panel/page things to go, wrapping up on February 3, 2012.

Coincidentally, today also marks the four-year anniversary of the launch of this Danger Digest blog. I'd love to say I intended for things to line up like that all along, but, well, that might not be true.

Next week's most likely not going to see any new Pipe Dope, but posting will resume the following Monday, August 1, with #111. Thanks as always for reading, and I hope you come back for the second half of this story!

So much for that expensive, experimental plane. At least we can rest easy knowing it didn't crash in vain; in fact, its loss afforded me the chance to use sound effects as a panel background, a technique I very much enjoy seeing. I hope I pulled it off okay here.

I'm hoping to be on the good ol' Monday-through-Friday schedule again next week, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before things slip back to Tuesday though Saturday. Welcome back to more Pipe Dope! I hope the weekend treated everyone well, and maybe even provided the opportunity to read some swell comics. While I've found myself woefully short on reading time this year--what with making comics and all (not to mention holding down the day job and generally trying to keep my life on the rails)--there has been some great stuff gracing my ears of late. Namely, the top-notch comics podcast known as Indie Spinner Rack. Hosted by Charlito and Mr. Phil, the 'cast started back in '05, so I realize I'm wicked late showing up to the party--but better late than never, I always sometimes say. (It should also be noted that, as a weirdo completist, I started listening to the show from the beginning, so I'm still listening to content from '06. It seems to just keep getting better, though, and I can't wait until I'm caught up to the present day--probably right around the time I finish Pipe Dope...)

Also: I miss the smell of pipe smoke.

Triple digits! Huzzah! I won't lie--there's a sense of accomplishment that comes along with that. But don't worry, there's plenty more Pipe Dope still to come. As a matter of fact, the story isn't even halfway done yet, so it's high time I get back to work.

I know as a kid I thought that bib was pretty funny, but now I kinda really want one for myself. Also, I still haven't recovered from drawing the car for last Friday's post (hence the empty street in the lower-left panel), but buses aren't so bad. Especially old Cleveland RTA buses.

I really do not like drawing cars. Ships and boats are great fun, but cars? Not so much. But, as I've said before, part of my rationale for doing Pipe Dope is just to have an opportunity to try things out, and even if I'm not always happy with the results, hopefully I learn a thing or two in the process.
